It's been a sick week Part 2

What a yucky weekend.

Well it has been another rough weekend.  Saturday Kai started vomiting and having diarrhea, so while I was at the BYU game with my brother (Landon), my mom and Tonia took Kai to the hospital because she was not able to keep any food or fluid.  The doctor said it looks like a stomach virus that is going around and that it usually only lasts for 24-48 hours.  When they got home all we could give her was 5mL of Pedialyte® every 15 min.  Sunday morning we kept her home from church and we tried to give her more fluids and some foods. She kept it all down and was a LOT happier.  Sunday night when we were putting her to bed she started the vomiting again, so Tonia and I spent the whole night in Kai's room.  Monday morning we took Kai to her doctor and he again said that it is just a bad case of the stomach virus.  While we were waiting for the doctor Kalea tried to get some attention and started vomiting herself, so the doctor basically said Kalea probably has the same stomach virus.

The football game wasn't any better.  BYU lost to Nevada 27-13.  They have now lost 3 in a row after winning a close game against Washington in week 1.  After trying to run the team with 2 QB's an injury to Riley Nelson's shoulder that required season-ending surgery made Jake Heaps, a true freshman, our starter.  Heaps had a lot of playing time against Florida State in a loss and got the start this week against Nevada.  Although we have lost, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel.  Heaps has a lot of talent and has shown some great potential, but he and BYU are just going through some growing pains.  Hopefully we can start winning again this Friday against Utah State who also have a 1-3 record.

P.S. My San Francisco 49ers got blown out by the Kansas City Cheifs.  They are now 0-3 and things aren't looking very good for the team right now.

It's been a sick week

Well, since we went to the zoo, we have had some sick babies.  Kalea caught a cold for a while, then Kaikai caught it.  They shared it with Tonia and I, then Kalea got an ear infection. We took her to the doctor on Saturday and got an antibiotic for her, she used it untill Tuesday night when we noticed a rash on her body that reminded us of a rash that Tonia got when she took amoxicillin because of an allergic reaction to the medicine.  Kalea is also allergic to amoxicillin. So we took her to the doctor again on Wednesday to get a new antibiotic.  Last night Kalea nearly gave us a heart attack when she had a diaper of blood red stool, we nearly rushed her to the Emergency room until we read on the prescription that the medicine she was given can cause your stool to be red.

Luckily we are all getting better, both of the girls are happy and we are doing better as well.  It's been a sick week, but we are looking forward to a better one to come.

Our Labor Day Weekend

For our three day weekend, Tonia and I decided that we would take the girls with us up to Salt Lake City to stay the night and then take them to the zoo on Monday morning. After church on Sunday, we packed up and made our way to Salt Lake to  a hotel we have become fond of, Hampton Inn. Sunday night we took the girls on a walk around the city, we ended up walking to Temple Square where we ran into a few people that we knew from BYU-Hawaii.

Kaikai enjoyed our visit to the temple, she got to run around the visitor's center and liked seeing the temple.  We talked with some of the missionaries that were serving there on temple square, they were impressed with kaikai because she kept saying "Pempo", which is her way of saying temple, and pointed out Jesus.

We had a pretty good night at the hotel.  It was our first time taking Kai and Kalea on an overnighter.  We usually just take Kai and leave Kalea home. Because it was out first time with both babies, we were nervous about how they would sleep, worrying that one would wake the other and it sounded like a perfect recipe for a long night.  Luckily both girls did pretty well.  Kaikai did end up sleeping in our bed with us, but she slept well.

Monday morning we headed up to the Hogle Zoo trying to beat the crowds.  It was a lot of fun, we got to see elephants, rhinos, tigers, monkeys, giraffes, and a lot more animals.  Kai seemed to have an awesome time and Kalea ended up sleeping most of the time.  We took a lot of pictures and here are some of them.
We bought Kai a backpack with an elephant, and the best part is that it has a leash on it so we can keep a hand on kaikai.
Kaikai and I posing with King Kong.
I thought we measured up pretty well.
Kalea finally woke up so we were able to take a picture with her on the Tiger.

We were able to get Tonia in front of the camera for this one.  She makes the giraffe look even taller :)

I think Kalea agree's that we had a good day at the zoo

THE game

Well, Devan and I went to the first game of the BYU season.  The BYU vs. University of Washington.  The QB of U of W (Jake Locker) is said to be good as Tim Tebow.  And for those of you who know Tim Tebow also know that he was picked in the first round of the NFL draft this year and plays for the Denver Bronco's now.  Well back to the BYU game.  This year, BYU is trying something new.... They have 2 starting QBs.  Riley Nelson, who is a junior, and Jake Heaps, who is a true freshman.    They both did pretty well, and we think they worked well together leading the BYU cougars to a VICTORY! Nielson is more like a "running" QB, since he runs the ball a lot, but Heaps is very good at throwing the ball.  This was Heaps first "college football" game, since he graduated from HS last year.  The first drive wasn't very good for either quaterback, so I was a little worried, but the defense did an amazing job and was able to stop U of W.

During half-time, we were also able to see Steve Yong and some other former BYU QBs, like Jim McMahon and Ty Detmer, on the field because they were being awarded.  Devan was stoked and was taking lots of pictures.  I think the defense did super good today stopping Jacob Locker.  His name is up for the Heisman Trophy candidate.  Good game and goooo cougars!!

Cosmo the Cougar is my favorite, see he's pointing at me!

For those of you who would like to cheer with us, this is our "fight song" so have it memorized by the next game!!!

O Rise, all loyal Cougars and hurl your challenge to the foe.
You will fight, day or night, rain or snow.
Loyal, Strong, and True
Wear the White and Blue.
While we sing, get set to spring.
Come on Cougars, it's up to you!
CHORUS:
O Rise and Shout, the Cougars are out
Along the trail to fame and glory.
Rise and shout, our cheers will ring out,
As you unfold your vict'ry story.
On you go to vanquish the foe
For Alma Mater's sons and daughters.
As we join in song, in praise of you, our faith is strong.
We'll raise our colors high in the blue,
And cheer the Cougars of BYU.
CHANT:
"Ra, ra, ra, ra, ra (3x) GO COUGARS!"

We are on TV, well the back of my head is on TV

Sorry, it's been pretty busy...

Well, school is back in session!  I have been busy with school and homework, Tonia has been busy teaching and working, and the girls have been busy being babies.  I am at school full time taking my first semester of all Information Technology classes.  I am enjoying all of the classes so far.

Tonia is taking an online class on student-athletes that she seems to enjoy.  She is also working everyday now at Zija.  She is also teaching some students online.  She is amazing, because as busy as she is, she is still a wonderful wife and mother who spends as much time as she can with me and the girls.

We are gearing up for football season to start.  Tomorrow is BYU's first game of the season against Washington.    Tonia and I are going to go to the game and have a blast, we'll take some pictures that we'll post.  It should be a good game, Washington is going to be tough to beat with a great QB in Jake Locker and a bunch of weapons around him.  BYU is going to try a two QB system, we'll see how that turns out.  Also a lot of BYU's offensive weapons are gone to the NFL, so we will see how this next group of skill players does.  It's going to be an awesome day, can't wait for football!!!

Aloha
